\"\"<\/a>It\u2019s usually at about this point in most modeling articles that the author provides a brief description of the vehicle in question.<\/span>  <\/span>Quite honestly, if I were to give any sort of technical or service description of the AMX-13\/90 it would be at best a labored, semi-creative re-write of a Wikipedia description \u2013 or worse \u2013 simply blatant plagiarism.<\/span>  <\/span>That is to say, I really do not have any insight or particular knowledge into this vehicle \u2013 no more so than any of you could easily find for yourself with a few key-strokes.<\/span>  <\/span>What I can speak to, however, is to how this AFV\u2019s relative obscurity (at least to me anyway) and quirky turret drew my attention.<\/span>  <\/span>The simple fact of the matter is that it looks pretty cool! <\/span>   <\/span><\/p>\n

Ok, onto the project.  <\/span>I cracked open the box on this model with only my leanings toward the off-beat subject and a desire to \u201cbuild something\u201d.  <\/span>While I\u2019ve certainly done my share of a magazine builds, this particular time I was only building for myself.  <\/span>It wasn\u2019t until the model was finished and I had posted a few pictures online that Andy contacted me and asked if I would be willing to submit.  <\/span>Of course, I am happy to oblige.  <\/span>That said since this project wasn\u2019t necessarily intended to be an article what follows are some \u201creal\u201d progress photos while others have been \"\"<\/a>\u201crecreated\u201d in order to help illustrate my ideas and techniques.  <\/span>I only say this so that you will understand that, although the photos may show the results of a cumulative process, the techniques themselves describe what I have used to create the finishes. <\/span><\/p>\n

By now, I\u2019ve built a number of the Takom kits and each has been a pleasure due to their clarity of instructions and good fit of the parts.  <\/span>Perhaps their only drawback might be the awkward placement of some of the sprue connection points on certain parts, but generally, these can be overcome with some careful blade skills and a bit of sanding.  <\/span>This kit was built basically from the box.  <\/span>However, I did take the opportunity to add a few finer details here-n-there; specifically, I added spare parts PE for the tool straps and various grab handles. I also stippled Mr. Surfacer 500 on the front area of the turret to enhance the cast effect.<\/span><\/p>\n
